Cutting boards are the go-to housewarming and wedding gifts these days. But what to do with one once you get it, or what to give along side one if you are the gift giver? Well, it's pretty simple to take care of your cutting boards if you follow these steps:
When you wash your cutting board, make sure to dry it right away. Water sitting on your wooden board can cause it to be very sad. Dried out, warped and sad.
If your cutting board is looking and feeling dry--like not freshly cleaned dry, but sad dry-- or looking pale, then it is lacking in moisture! Here's what it needs:
Cutting Board Oil -- I prefer Walrus Oil with simple natural ingredients and made int he USA https://walrusoil.com
Or Food Grade Mineral Oil -- Mineral oil is great because it is tasteless and odorless and will not spoil. Other cooking oils can allow bacteria to grow. https://www.cuttingboard.com/oil-accessories/oil
When you apply, be generous and let it sit for a few hours or overnight to soak in the good stuff before you wipe the excess off with a clean towel.
