OUR STORY

The Beehive Workshop started as an idea hatched by two Industrial Design teacher buddies, Megan and Dave, who loved to make and build things out of anything they can get their hands on! With backgrounds in graphic design and engineering, the team at The Beehive Workshop knew they would be uniquely prepared to tackle every project with precision and creativity! Megan left education for the bright lights of small business ownership, and The Beehive Workshop was founded. The workshop is located in the historic Long House in beautiful Hope, New Jersey with nature, history, and community as our backdrop and inspiration. How can we help?

Back in 2021, I committed fully to aligning our business practices with our personal goals of supporting business that are small, ethically sourced, and Made in the US and Canada. I am so excited at the chance to work with companies that adhere to our goals of crafting items with the highest quality and a personal touch. If our partners offer something that you'd like to have personalized, let us know!

OUR PARTNERS | WHAT WE USE TO MAKE OUR GOODIES

Ocooch Hardwoods

www.ocoochhardwoods.com

Named after the rolling Ocooch Mountains of Southwest Wisconsin, the family-run business of Ocooch Hardwoods (pronounced oh-kooch) offers specialty hardwood lumber and plywood. Unlike an impersonal corporation, Ocooch Hardwoods is run by one family. Ethan Martin takes your calls and answers your questions, while his brothers, Adriel, Doran, Jadon, Christian, and Caleb, process and ship your orders.

We seek to meet the demands of retailers, craftsmen, cabinet shops and anyone interested in fine quality lumber. We specialize in lumber and guarantee it to be on grade and proper moisture content.

Founded in 1906, Rubio Monocoat is the Beehive's go-to for one coat stains and finishes for hardwood. Oil Plus is a revolutionary, plant-based, hardwax oil wood finish. It is used for flooring, furniture, cabinetry, millwork and just about any wood project imaginable. Oil Plus 2C works by forming a molecular bond with the topmost fibers of the wood. This results in a durable finish with great wear-, water- and heat resistance, all while keeping the natural look and feel of the wood. Oil Plus 2C is 0% VOC and does not contain solvents or water.

www.walrusoil.com

Founded by a seasoned woodworker experimenting with his own wood finish recipes, in 2017 Dave Darr offered for sale a dozen handcrafted cans of something he called "Walrus Oil", the name inspired by his noticeably large mustache. Customers appreciated the product transparency and couldn't help but love the packaging. Meanwhile, Dave was quietly donating profits directly to the US Forest Service to help support tree planting programs, forming a strategic partnership with National Forest Foundation® which administrates all tree planting programs between Walrus Oil and the US Forest Service. As of 2024, Walrus Oil is sold in well over 2,000 stores across North America and enjoyed by professional woodworkers, hobbyist, antique enthusiast, home chefs, and more. Locally made in Ozark, MO!

Maple Landmark

www.maplelandmark.com

The Maple Landmark team consists of approximately 40 Vermonters, spread across several departments including sanding, finish, graphics, assembly, front office, and more. We take doing business locally seriously. From the services we hire, to our banking relationship, to our material sourcing, the nearer, the better. Where we can, components come from local companies. We succeed to the point that only about 1% of our budget goes to purchase foreign-sourced items. We have actively recycled materials from the very start. For us, it is good old-fashioned yankee frugality combined with modernday concern over the use of limited natural resources. In our business there are opportunities to either reuse materials or conserve right from the start.

FAIRE

www.faire.com

Faire was founded in 2017 on the belief that the future of retail is local. Our mission is to help independent entrepreneurs chase their dreams, from the artisan candlemaker hoping to grow her business to the enterprising shopkeeper stocking his shelves with unique goods for his community. That’s why we built Faire, an online wholesale marketplace empowering small business owners and independent brands to buy and sell wholesale online. We’re in San Francisco, Kitchener-Waterloo, Toronto and Salt Lake City.
